STEAMER STRANDED.
STILL A FIXTURE. Per Press.Association. AUCKLAND, April 9. Tlie steamer Knight of St. George, which arrived to-day, brought details of the stranding of the steamer Boverie at Nukualofa, Tonga. The Boveric, when entering Nukualofa on March 29th, under easy steam in fine weather, grounded on the end of a reef, and efforts to get her off at high water failed. The Knight of St. Georgo arrived on tho 31st, and tried next morning to tow the Boveric off, without success. Sho tried again on April -2nd,. but the tow- line parted. Next -morning a third unsuccessful attempt was made, and on the 3rd the Knight of St. George left for Auckland, leaving the Boverie's position unchanged.;' Tt is considered that probably a portion of the reef is penetrating tho Bofrerie's hull, and that she Toll have to ho considerably lightened before sho can be floated. The Knight of St. George suffered some slight damage whijo endeavouring to pull tho Boveric on*.
.Advices "have, been received in Sydney that the position <if the steamer is not dangerous and sho is expected to float nfter discharging part of her cargo.
