CYaigie, M.P., yesterday, in reply to representations made by him, shows that the Land Hoard has now decided to deal with applicants for the Canterbury runs in a verv different way to t/.afc which was indicated by the inff rmatnjn published a week ago. The telegram, which is from Sir Joseph Ward, as [Minister of Lands, is as follows:—" Canterbury runs and capital required by applicants: I have made inquiry into the matter, and learn fiom tho Commissioner of Crown Lands, who is here, that it is not the Board's intention to lay down any'hard and fast rnlo as to the amount of capital required by each applicant. 'Every application will be considered on its own merit.-, and as long as tlie iJnard is satisfied that the applicant, though possessing only a small amount of capital, has reasonable hope for succr =s, he Trill be permitted to go to the ballot, tliouch generally speaking the ppolicant must show that he has suff'fi«»nfc capital ro work the run, as v itlmut it it would mean that h<* would s;mp!v be the tool of some financial firm.'*
