Any boom in land values was not at all evident in Tattersall's Sale-rooms yesterday, when Sir S. i\ Smithson s town properties and country sec-tions were offered for sale by auction tv ~V»es>rs Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., in conjunction witli the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd 200 persons were present, ami after lengthy conditions of sale were read, the auctioneers, Messrs G. Jones and J. Maling gave brief descriptions of the properties. Mx Muling said that the present s.itc was one of the most important cl its kind in the history of Timam. Never before had such a. large number of valuable sections, comprising reside ces, building sites and sectnas suitable for the erection of factories been offered together. Their value too was bound, to increase, certanily it would never diminish. ''lt had been said," remarked Mr Maling. "that Timaru has reached its limit"sis an agricultural centre. Mr Jones roferrcd enthusiastically to the suggested expenditure of a large gum of money on Caroline Bay; °a scheme which, he said, the majority of them would strongly support.
