FOUND DROWNED.
IN THE HARBOUB. The body of an elderly man, iully dressed, was noticed floating in ~i.he harbour yesterday morning, close to the Main wharf at the outer beith. Two fishermen, who happened to he about at 10 o'clock, were among the first to see it. They immediately informed the police, and Constables McLean and Harold went down. The body was removed to the morgue, and was identified as that of Thomas Lak«, a man whose age was about 70 years, and who recently had lived by hur.self in a hut near the abattoirs, where he occasionally did odd jobs for ihe butchers. Examination showed ihat there were no marks of violence on the body, and it is probable he had been in the water a few hours before being discovered. Lake, who, had no knov n relatives about the district, was sren about town on Saturday after-ioon, and later on in tiie evening, when he appeared to have been .drinking., An inoueat will be held at 9.30 V.m. in the Courthouse to-day, before the District Coroner, Mr V. <J. Day.
