MEETINGS & BUSINESS NOTICES.
The second wool sale of the season will be held in the Theatre Royal today, commencing at 9 a.m. The catalogue to "be offered comprises nearly 11,000 bales;, the wool is for the most part in good condition, aud competition promises to be keen. Tlios© who wish to obtain a footing in Fairlie should note that a number of building sites are to be sold on 16th. prox. by the N.M. and A. Company. Some excellent examples of colour photography, the' latest development of the enterprise of the "Weekly Press," will be found in this week's number. The other illustrations are well up to their usual standard. The Education Board invites applications for four teacherships of various grades. The rubber boom has reached Timaru, in the shape of offers of 2s shares in a Papuan Products Company, advertised t-0-dav. The Beacousfield Sports Club announce their annual sports meeting for Boxing Day—admission free. Express Company are distributing a " Simplex " perpetual calendar, a very clever device which, is available for use from now till the year -000, and if it had been devised in time could have been used since 1600 A.D. A leaflet accompanying it states that *'llo calendar of such convenience has been produced in the world before, and it is to the erdit of the Dominion that it lias been thought out and manufactured in New Zealand." Its special advantage is that it enables one to find the day of the week on which falls any date between 1600 and the end of 1999. Of course it is used as a- means of advertisement, and the issuers "trust that retention of same will always remind you of yours faithfully the New Zealand Express Company."
