A NEW WOOL STORE.
N.M. AND A. CO.'S ENTERPRISE. Timaru was already possessed of a large total area of wool stores suitable for the display of wool for the convenient inspection by wool buyers (suitable also for general storage purposes as well of course), but that total has been increased this year by the enterprise of the National Mortgage and Agency Company in making a large addition to the blue roofing on tho reclaimed land. They havo erected on Hayes street—street and railway siding—a building with 210 feetfrontage and 75 feet in depth, especially designed for the satisfactory display of wool, the floor space being sufficient for the display of 2000 bales. The material used is that which has been usual in. that section of the borough, galvanised iron on wooden framing, and the lighting arrangements are of the usual design, the " factory roof." In this building, however, the architect, Mr I.<\ XV. Marchant, introduced a refinement on the ordinary factory roof glazing, by filling the lights with corrugated rolled glass, which by is refractive qnalitv distributes the light with finite marvellous evenness over the floor. Expert visitors who have inspected the store havo spoken in terms of highest praise of its lighting. A minor factor tending in the same direction of avoiding shadows is the use o! girder irons for the interior roof supports. which also save room. The floor has been carefully made for wool working purposes, and the whole building has been well constructed by the contractor, Mr James Donald. A picture of it will be found in our supplement to-day. The store is already in use, about 1000 hales of wool having been received into it for the coming sales.
