STILL ALIVE. Press Association —By Tel.—Copyright. ST. PETERSBURG,, Nov. 17. The report of Count Tolstoy's death is untrue. The announcement led to a remarkable demonstration _in Russia. He is still lingering. CONDITION MORE FAVOURABLE. Count Tolstoy's is more favourable. The Countess refrains from seeing him. lest she should excite him. News of his death emanated from members of his family. It caused tho cancellation o.f all lectures and the publication of lengthy obituaries in every country. AT DEATH'S DOOR. ST PETERSBURG, Nov. 13. Tolstoy's pulse ranges up to 120. He lias frequent intermissions of respirations, has no appetite, and exhibits continual drowsiness, and is alternatii'y unconscious and delirious. AMID POOR SURROUNDINGS. Astopowo is only a station with a few hilts, and Tolstoy's family are living in a side tracked railway car, and a crowd of correspondents in another car. The stationmaster has given Toistoy and his nurses his one-storey log house. THE CHURCH'S ATTITUDE. The Holy Synod favourably discussed the rescinding of his ex-communication after the report of Bishop Partlienius of a conversation with Tolistoy, wherein he expressed desire for reconciliation. The Bishop of Tawboo has left for Astopowo.
