If you are desirous of charging Mr Buxtou with a violation of li.s election pledges, then on the facts, yot.r charge must fall to the ground. As secretary of the local No-License League, 1, at last election, submitted the following questions (among others.) to Mr Buxtou: (I) "Are you in favour of deciding all the issues in connection with licenses by an absolute majority-' ("2) "If you do not favour an absolute mapority what majority do you favour;-"' To the first question .Mr Buxton answered "No." To the second, he replied: "At present three'tthS; may vote for reducing major-
As those questions and answers -were freely published previous to last election I fail to see where the "deviation" of which yon speak conies in. Personally, I think the elimination of the reduction vote constituted a very pood reason why Mr Buxton should vote for a reduction of the maiority. I might say I .am immensely pleased at Mr Buxton's attitude. I am of the opinion that those candidates who persist in sticking to the tyrannical imposition of a three-fifths majority will have a pretty rough passage at next election. Your cheap sneer at the division of "Dominion option and local option ballot, papers shows either that yon do not thoroughly understand the c'umulatiro vois, w that yon are wilfully throwing tlvxt in people's eyes.—T am, etc,.
