SPITEFUL OUTRAGE.
A HOUSE'S THHQAT COT. Per Press Association. CHiiiSl CHL'iICJi, Nov. 14. A peciii.uii y dastardly outrage was commuted in Chrisurliurcli last night. Early m the evening, Jl. ;imtih, caretaker ot the Cricket grounds .11 Park, tethered a mare he uses ior his work close to his house, and leit her witli some fodder and a bucket of water. This morning smith and iiis assistant went out to get the mare in order to carry ou his operat.ous, hut to his surprise they could not find her. A search showed that she had - been taken from the tether to the back cf a hedge near the house,' and had there been killed, a large wound extending across her throat. There was also a wound over one thigh, where a knife had evidently been sent deep into the flesh, for the bone was laid bare. A bucket was found close to the body, which the perpetrator of the outrage had evidently tried to get into an old watercourse. The horse, which was valued at £SO, belonged to the Hagley Park Ground Committee. The police authorities who have the matter in hand do not think that the former "horse fiend" is abroad again, and there is an impression that the deed could have been dictated only by. spite.
