The barqueDoride from Mercury Bay to Liverpool- via Great Barrier, is reported to havo arrived at her destination, As the Doride left Mercury Bay on April 24 she would be 200 days out on Thursday. The New Zealand Shipping Company s Kaikourn, the first ocean steamer to load at Tokomaru Bnv, lifted a thousand bales of -wool there" on Saturday. The freezing works there will be opened towards tlie end of the year. A cargo steamer has bocn fixed to load jarrah at Bunbury, Western Australia, for New Zealand. She is to sail a.bout the end of the month for Wellington, Oamaru, and Timaru, and w.l! deliver the bulk of her cargo at Wellington. Millars' West Australian Hardwood Company are the consignees for the jarrah. The s.s. Corinna is due here from Wellington on Thursday next to land general, and to load cargo for Duned.n. The Corinna leaves Dunedin on 1'" rid ay evening for Bluff, where she will load cheese for transhipment at Wellington to a Home liner. She will be here on Monday in her northern run;ng as usual. Last week's "Gazettee 1 ' contains the following notice to mariners :—The Lyttelton Harbour Board have notified that dredging opertions will shortly be started in Lyttelton harbour. Tho dredging wire is laid on a line from the middle of No. 3 jetty through the middle of tho entrance bsfcween the Titolo across tho turning basin. The steamer Willesd-en, of the Watts and Watts Line; London, which sailed' from Port Pirie on October 26, has gained the reputation of a record bivaker, says the 'Register.' She arrived in December, 1908, with 4,128,&3G super, feet of Oregon—the largest cargo of timber ever exported in 'one bottom from British Columbia, and the biggest ever imported into the Commonwealth. If the Oregon shs then brought had all consisted of 12in. bv 1 11. planks, laid end to end, it woulcl bare reached a distance of 782 miles. Later on, when the same vessel loadp" a cargo of graih at Port Adelaide, she created a record by lifting a cargo of wheat equal to 7ooi tons. Now she has established another record by loading 7466 tons ,of concentrates —the largest cargo ever taken f rorj, here, and said to be the heaviest deadv"'Sht cargo of its kind ever put on board a single vessel. A little over 1111 1 tous of this cargo had to be lightered to the anchorage. The previous ore-cargo record from here was held by the Spanish steamer Jupiter, which loaded 7176 tons.
