UPPER PAREORA BRIDGES.
To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." Sir,—l licji a Utile space of you iu your valuable paper to draw the attention of those interested in trying to yet a bn'd-e at tlie crossing at .Martin's in the I'pper Pareora Yailey. to the fact that there are two bridues in the valley, one at .Air Mcpherson's road, which was needed very much in flood time, and another at the hack of the Cave Hill in course of construction afc th= present time. Now this one, is for motor trai'lic. There is nut a drop of water running under it on an average of ten months of lite year, and in thirty-five years I have never known this 'creek ' but it could bo crossed. At the present time it js as dry as the crown of a lime burner's hat. hut a bridge of two span? is being erected. At the Pareora crossing at Martin's no bridge is thought about by the powers that be. The three counties, are responsible for this of affairs. flight well thev all know what is wanted, but it seems that a lons .suffering public, will have to »nt up with this inconvenience for mnnv a lonp: dav before the Pareora is hrhlued at this crossing. Hooiii"- that some „f those that should make a move w;i] pet to work and make things ively for those who are responsible.— L am. etc., DAVID MAXAVELL. Cave.
