LOXDOX MEAT MARKET. Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co., "teport under date. .September 16th: — The volmume of trade on the market continues larse. Supplies of Homegrown meat have been abundant with prices barely Tiiaintained. Large shipments of chilled beef continue, and the price of a!! beef is low. Forequarters of chilled beef have been selling as low tis 2Jd and liinds 34d. Shorter supplies of frozen moat, and with very light shipments to arrive prices liave advanced, and prospects- arc good.
Fear is expressed that stocks of frozen niutton and lamb will not be sufficient j to carry on the trade, and that prices for a short time will be liigh. The week lias seen an advance in all frozen mutton ami lamb, with the exception of the Plate, which is still being sold ac low priois. New Zealand mutton is fully an Id higer: lamb from an |d to a Jd. Australian supplies are exhausted. Frozen beef is low in sympathy with chilled, but prices are hrnier.TJSMUKA SALE. \ The fortnightly sale was held at Teniuka yards yesterday, when a fair entry was forward. CHRISTCHTJRCH PRODUCE MARKET. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 25. There is nothing fresh to report in connection with the local grain market. "Wheat is practically unsaleable, and oats are wanted but are not forthcoming. The only move is in ryegrass, which the continued dry weather has caused to advance in price. The shortage in feed will prevent the usual area in Canterbury being closed up for seed, and the coming season's crop is likelv to be a very short one. The drv weather has however had the effect of checking the demand for spring sowing, but this will have to be made up later on. Potatoes have gone up to £S los at country stations. An AusI tralian consignment was expected at | Lyttelton, but it did not come to hand.
