SHARES BOOMING.

The boom of the Bullfinch find continues. Some other now finds of value- are reported. An offer of .C 200,00U for the Bullfinch lease, on behalf of ,1 London sbarebroker, has been refused. The original finder Bold onesixteenth share for £IO,OOO. The yoacg Bullfinch mine has been ttoaled in Adelaide with a capital of £60,0000. Other sales at high prices are reported. ■ There is considerable excitement on the inter-State stock exchanges, and shares on the Bullfinch and adjoining finds are changing hands at big advances. Recoived 9.10 p.m., Oct. 25th. Dirt from the bottom level of the Bullfinch, assays tip to 400ozs per ton. The country is pegged from Bullfinch, to beyond the Southern Cross, over thirty miles. The values of the properties outside the Bullfinelis is still purely speculation, and only light prospecting work is being done. The Minister of Mines and other authorities ivarn the people aginst wild speculation until the field is properly tried. EXCITED SPECULATORS. SYDNEY, Oct. 26. The Stock Exchange is wildly excited over the Bullfinch. A new company was formed this morning for a block allotted at os and shares quickly rose to 10s. Later the speculators cooled off, and the shares dropped to 7s. It is many years since such excitement ivas witnessed. CURIOUS CONDUCT. The Wade Government's last act was to order £3OO, UOO worth of locomotives, an Lour before resigning. HOT DAYS. A heat wave prevails—the hottest October for seven years. In the city the temperature is 94. NEW LAND RULES. The Minister of Lands lias instructed departmental officers that land is to be. offered ;is original holdings only under the homestead selection or settlement lease provisions. PROHIBITION. Mr Complin, secretary of the New South Wales Alliance, warmly approved New Zealand's new Prohibition Bill, and says it looks like a very serious attempt to deal adequately with a very serious evil. He favours'a similar bill for New South Wales. As a result of a "Leer strike" at Broken Hill, the publicans have reduced the price from sixpence to fourpence a pint.
