In the House of Representatives tliia evening, Mr Jianan, chairman of the Bine Committee, presented their -jri-porti, which recommended that the charges be referred to Supreme Court Judaea for investigation and report. He moved that the report lie on the table and he printed. Sir J. O. Ward reiterated the reasons for referring the matter to Judgoa which he gave before the Committee. He pointed out that those who had at first demanded this course now clamoured against it. Party feeling and bitterness had been imported into the question. Mr Leaser asked the Premier what was to bo referred to the Judges—Mr Hine's charges or something else? The Premier replied that ■ other charges which might ho mads would also be investigated. Further consideration of the matter at this stage would be unfair. The Premier said he did not propose to do this. When the Chief Justice agreed to two Judges being appointed the Governor would be recommended to make the appointment. Whatever was required to give the Judges the necessary power to investigate and »« port would be done.
