H.M.3. PIONEER. H.M. drill sliip Pioneer left Auckland on Monday i'or the south, and is at present at Oamaru. Alter a-stay there tor a few days Timaru will be next visited, and then Dunedin, the warship being due at the latter port oil November 1. She will then leava 011 a erui.se of the sounds "with the Governor (Lord Islington), and is due in Wellington about Becember 25. She is expected to reach Timaru 011 Monday • and to remain here for several days. Representatives of the local branch or the Navy League are making arrangements to suitably entertain the men of the gun boat at Timaru. and intend! 10 take advantage of the opportunity; to increaso the membership of thei League. Oil on© night a social evening will be held in the drill shed, when Territorials in uniform will be ad-J mitted free, but a charge of Is per head will bo made to the general public this to include free membership! with the Navv League for one year* Earlier the sane evening the men-o'-t warsmen will be entertained at tea A good programme of amusement lias been arranged for the evening touring members of the Savage Olub being responsible for part of i't, the men of the Pioneer will give some of those items for which they have already achieved a good name in Timaru, '■ ■ ' "7' '
