The facts showed this case to be particularly iptritorious. On the evening in question AlcPherson was passing the St-and Arcade, Auckland, when he heard a crash of glass and saw a man and flames issuing from the third shop on the left side. McPherson run into the Thistle Hotel and rang up the £:o brigade. Oa regaining the street he saw a handbag fail from one of the windows, mid on looking up ho saw a man on the window sill ac the third storey. The ttau was calling for help. This is only thn second occasion on which th.- St-nd medial has been awarded, the former recipient being Sergeant R-edrnond. a p-.h'ce officer.
