LAND BALLOT AT TIMARU.
HOHIKA SETTLEMENT. Yesterday, in tlie Foresters' Hall, George street, a ballot was lield for the four sections in the Koliika No. 2 settlement. The land, 084 acres, is situate at .Hunter, about six miles west of jlakikih:. All tho members of the Lund Hoard, together with the officers of the C'hnstehuieh office, were present, and alter iiie examination of applicants the sections were disposed of in a very few minutes. There were 49 applicants altogether, a good many of them applying for all four sections., and the successful ones were distributed between Christ-church and Oamaru. The result was as follows: Section I—lsßs1 —158$ acres, half-yearly rent £47. >'ll applicants, Eliza J. Clel- ■ land, liurnham. Section 2 145J acres, half-yearly rent £43 4s, 20 applicants, Donald 11cjLaehlnn, Oamaru. j Section 3 —138 acres, half-yearly rent £4l 3s 6d, 34 applicants, Sarah Jane I Avers. 1 Gleniti. i Section 4 —142£ acres, half-yearly I rent. .t\'± 6s, 34 applicants, J. A. iNieol, Ofcaio.
