At the Richmond disaster inquiry, Bull, the signalman at Richmond, declared that the South Yarra statement that they got the line clear for the second train was untrue. It was impopsible as one tram was already on the section. COMMITTED KOR TRIAL. Arthur Lloyd has been committed I'or trial on a charge of the. manslaughter of his son aged live, who died from diphtheria. The evidence at the inquest showed that the father, who believed in faith-healing, refused to allow a doctor's treatment, although he knew that his son was suffering from diphtheria. He relied on prayer. COMPENSATION BILL. In the Assembly the Workmen's Compensation Bill passed through committee. A motion including clerks was negatived. TUBERCULOSIS. The medical members of the Legislative Council strongly criticised the Tuberculosis Notification Bill, stating that it is harsh, cruel, and unnecessary. The vice-president of the executive, promised, if advised by the Government medical officer, that pulmonary tuberculosis is the only communicable form, that he would amend the measure. The second reading was carried. VICTORIAN REVENUE. In the Assembly the Treasurer announced that the revenue for the year ended June 30th last, was £8,528.000.
