FIREMAN KILLS FIVE PEOPLE. Tress Association-By Telegraph-Opyright. NEW' YORB, August- 1. A discharged fireman at San Dtego. California, became insane and shot | three firemen dend and wounded an-i 0i!,,,- badly. Then he beat- his wife; ;ftd child to death, and escaped in the darkness. FIRE PANIC. FIVE WOMEN SUFFOCATED. LONDON, August 1. An electric light wire fused, and set fire to the contents of the window of a drapery shop at Accrington. The premises, which were crowded at the time, were soon ablaze, and there was a terrible rush to the doors. Five women were suffocated, three of them being seamstresses, and two customers. The retreat from the upper story was cut off through the main stairway breaking. The damage amounted to £20.000.
