A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

[W AIM ATE Tla Waimate A. and P. -Association held its annual meeting in the County Chambers, Waimate, on bauirday afternoon. The President (..Mr A. (jariand) was in the chair, and there were about 40 members presfcnt. _ The annual report stated that financially the year had been a successful one, .having opened with a debit balance of £94 lis Id, and closed with a credit of £7 13s -id. To prevent clashing with Oamaru Show in the same week, the Committee had considered- it advisable to hold the show earlier (Nov. 4th) and tlie attendance <>i" the public was a record one. £IOO Is being taken at the gates. It had, however, the effect of preventing the side shows visiting in any number., and It Would be recognized that a proportion of those who attend the shows were little interested in the exhibits, and if some amusement was not provided for them they would cease to patronise the show. The horse parade had not so numerous an entry as in former, years, but the high standard was maintained, and the district was to be congratulated on having stallions in the county which generally carry off the prizes at the larger centres. The ram fair brought forward an entrv of 562, and the prices obtained, thongk low, -were fully equal to those of other centres. A very general opinion was expressed that the fair was held too early to suit the district. The present arrangement of having the live stock at the rear of the stand was proving unsatisfactory, and it would be for the incoming Committee to devise some means of improvement. The Commiittee had gone ful'y into the question of selling the old show grounds, but considered it inadvisable to part with them at the present time. Members were thanked for support during the year, and also those who gave so liberally the special prizes.—The report was adopted. The balance-sheet showed as receipts, subscription £2SS 4s. show receipts £'327 3s 6d, horse parade, rnin fair and rent of show grounds £3O 6s: tetal, £615 14s. The expenditure was £513 9s 7d, which, with the debit balance in 1909 of £94 lis Id, left a credit balance of £7 13s 4d.

The retiring president thanked members for the support accorded him. As regarded the Committee, he had been seventeen years wiith the Association, and tad never seen business put through trith so little trouble, all working together, and the attendance it meetings had been exceptionally good.
