TIMARU THURSDAY, JUNE 9tli. Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M). POLICE CASES. Wm. Clark was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and ordered to pay 15s costs for having broken a window belonging to F. M. Shewan. Robert McConnochic, of Glen-iti was fined 20s and costs 9s. for having been drunk while in charge of a horse and trap in Church St. Charged with riding a motor-bicycle without lights at night R. Cooke was fined 10s and costs 7s; while for a 'similar offence with an ordinary bicycle, Geo. Andrews was also fined 10s and costs 7s. For driving a horse and vehicle at night without a light, "Wilfred Ryan was lined 10s and costs 7s, and D. Gee, .las. Fibbes and John Morgan for having ridden bicycles on the footpath, were each fined ;js and costs. PROHIBITION. A prohibition order was taken out against a. resident of the town on the application of his nephew, and one was taken out against a young man. UNREGISTERED FACTORY. .las. MeCormick was charged on the information of the Inspector of Factories with having failed to register his factory within the specified time. Defendant, a blacksmith, pleaded guilty, and the Inspector, Mr Lightfoot, said that he had given four warnings-. His Worship inflicted a fine of 5s and costa .MAINTENANCE. Thomas "Wm. Smith, charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife, for whom Mr Raymond ap. pearcd, pleaded guilty, and" was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as defendant contributed £1 per week until the arrears £l3 are paid off. Thos. Ferguson Parker (Mr .Raymond), was ordered to contribute to the maintenance of his illegitimate child (7s Gd a week), and to pay expenses of) confinement £5 2s. applied for an order of separation from her husband AVm. Sellars (Mr Raymond). Evidence was given as to the husband's bad habits, his habitual drunkenness, and cruel conduct. His "Worship made an order giving the wife the custody of the children. TRESPASS. Alfred East was charged that' on May 22nd he trespassed on the grounds of H. B. S. Johnstone in pursuit of game, Mr Rolleston appearing for the informant. His Worship warned defendant, and ordered him to pay costs
