CUSTOMS RETURNS. Tile following is a comparative statement- showing the amount of Customs duties collected at limaru iu May 1909 and 1910:

GERALDIXE SALE. At tho usual fortnightly sale held at Geraluine yards yesterday there was a good entry forward of which the bulk comprised fats and on which there was good competition. BURNSIDE STOCK MAEKET. DUNEDIN, June 1. Cattle;— Only 16G were penned. Bidding was spirited and prices showed an improvement of fully 10s per head all round. Best bullocks £lO to £lO 10s, extra to £l2 12s 6d. medium to good £3 10s to £9 10s, light £6 10s to £7 10s, best cows and heifers £0 10s to £"7 10s, extra to £ll 12s Gd. medium to good to £6 10s, light £4 to £5.

Siheep—2327 fat sheep were penned. There was good competition for prime heavy wethers which were firm at last week's rates. Freezing wethers were easier owing to exporters standing off. Ewes were much the same as last week. Fat lambs —2246 were penned. Exporters and butchers were operating and prices were very firm. Best 14s to 15s 6d, extra show lambs to 20s. medium to good lis to 13s 9d, light 8s 6d to 10s 6d. Pigs—About 100 were penned. Suckers 3s 6d to 7s 6d. slips 9s to lis 6d, stores los to 20s_, porkers 2;3s to 355, light haconers 3<s to 425, heavy baconers 45s to 48s. "DUNEDIX GRAIN MARKET. "Wheat.-—There is no business passing and prices are merely nominal. Prime milling 3s 8d to 3s 9d, medium do. 3s od to 3s 7d, best- whole fowl wheat 3s to 3s 3d. Oats—"There is very little demand for shipment and the* market is stagnant. Prices are much the same as at last quotation, although very little business is being done.
