HUNTING.

MEET AT ORAM BRIDGE. For once tho elements were unfayourable when the hounds met on Moaday lust at the Upper Orari Bridge, out hunting conditions were otherwise favourable and a guod day's sport was enjoyed. After meeting near tho Orari Bridge School hounds were trotted up the road, leading to Orari Gorge, and a cast was made in one of Mr F. R. Flatman's paddocka. Hares were very numerous, but being admirably hunted hounds soon got on tiio track of one which led the field an excellent spin over some stiff sheep wire country, hounds being eventually rewarded by a kill. After lunch, which took place close to Mr Burdon's entrance gate, the rain ceased and the afternoon was beautifully fine. There were two very good runs in tho afternoon, and the day's snort was only marred by a rather serious mishap to -vir J. R. Deiiuistoun, whose moiint came a cropper over a low wire fence. and threw Ins rider heavily. Amona the numerous field were Mr M Q Harper, acting-master, on Swagger* the Huntsman on Brisk. Whip on Comet, Mrs Harper on Kaitoa. Miss Button (who was heartily welcomed on her re-appearance with tho South Canterbury hounds) on a bay mare. iUiss Lyon on Crusader, Miss F. Ltob on Dolly Grey. Miss Orton on Rang*. Miss Hammond on Nellie, Mr Flatman on a bay, Mr Thompson on a brown, Mr P. Barker on Katerfelto, Mr Barkhe on Banshee. Mr J R Den. mstoun on Shirley ,Mr G. Dennistoun on the Sk.pner. Mr R. Hammond on Rubra, Mr McKay on Tit Willow, Mr Izard on Mighty Atom, Mr Bennett Mr U H. Crowe on Dawn, Mr Twome* ™r Mnttie, Mr Robertson on Cossack. Mr Beattie on Norrie, Mr Wharton on Silverstreak. Mr Ford on Rata. Mr if lfield on Paddy, Mr Ashbv on Ex. •Jianrre, Mr Payne on All Black, Mr Reid on Golden Knight, Mr A. Reid on Nelson, and many others. Many supporters of hunting were present driving and motoring.
