AUSTRALIA V. NEW ZEALAND. TEST. MATCH "WON EASILY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Mai-eh 15. The test matcli concluded to-day in fine weather, the Australians 'winning by nine wickets. The wicket improved with, the drying wijid. Midlane and Sims continued New Zealand's second innings. The last named after compiling eleven was caught- at the wicket. McFarlana took his place. Hopkins' next over shattered Midlane r s wicket. Oliir re-plnt-ed him, but was clean bowled by Hopkins. Bennett joined McFarlape, but lashing out at was clean bowled. Boxshall was the in-goer. McFarlane lashed out at Whitty, and was caught at third man by Warne. Howden was last man. Boxsliall got the first of what proved Hopkins' last over, and got four to fine leg, but was then stumped from a rebound off tha wicket-keeper's pads. Mayne and Bardsley went in for the Australians who had 10S runs to get to win and at the luncheon adjournment the first named had scored 35 to Bardsley's six. Mayne continued to piie i p the score. Bardsley whoso score was -unaltered. was clean bowled by Bennett. Simpson followed and lie and Mayne compiled the necessary runs to win. The New Zealand bowling, with tie exception of that of Bennett, was made to look very simple by the fine batting oi Mayne. Bennett, however, bowled splendidly and while the batsmen were making runs at the rate of one hundred per hour, Bennett sent down 7.5 overs for fifteen runs , and a wicket. It is questionable whether the New Zealand skipper was not at fault in not starting with Bepnett, and seeing that Haddon was the first bowler tried in the first, innings the fact that he was noi* put on till 99 runs had been scored is apparently inexplicable.
