Mr arid Mrs Herbert Elworthy are visiting Christehurch. Miss Ford, (Dunedin), is the guest of Mrs E. L. Finch, Beverly Road. Mr and Mrs J. L. Gillies have returned from "Wellington. Mrs D'Emden ("Wellington), is the guest of Mrs Miles, Wai-iti K.oad. Mr. and Mrs E. BKck (Blenlieim) are visiting Mrs Sinclair, Beverley Road. The engagement is announced of Miss Lena Mendelsson, daughter of Mrs ■Cutten, (Temuka), to Mr Charles Millar, solicitor. The style of hair-dressing has once again changed»to the pretty low and soft effect. We no longer see the high pyramid style, but the old curls and plaits are once more to be worn.. A very pretty style is the hail - waved gently from the forehead and banded around the back with plait, but this will only suit the lady of flowing tresses, the less fortunate ones can still have recourse to the puffs on to the neck.

. The "Lrdies' Bay," at the Timaru Rowing Club on Thursday, last was a very pleasant 'function. The members of the ltowing Club acted the part of hosts to their friends in a very capable manner.
