THE LATE BISHOP LENIHAN.
THE FUNERAL*^CEREMONIES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. Despite heavy rain there was a long cortege at the funeral of the late Bishop Lenihan this afternoon. The Mayor and City Councillors, and representatives of almost every public body, as well as of the leading business institutions, were present, in addition to many visiting priests and prominent members of the laity. The cortege was over a mil© lopg, and included the Garrison Band. On arrival at the Cathedral the coffin was placed in front of the sanctuary and a short service was held during which- the Cathedral was packed to its utmost capacity.: The body will lie in state at the Cathedral until , midnight to-night. The coffin will then be closed down, and will be guarded during the night' by -ms'mbers of the Komah Catholic Societies. The burial will; take place in tho Cathedral .i'to-morrow morning,; ■ after the Requiem Mass, which Commences at 10 o clock.
