An unusual number of auction sales »f farm, suburban and town ■ properties were held on Saturday; but, as is usual, not much business was acme. All the sales were well attended. Details of the offerings are as follows: BY THE N.M. AND A. CO. The N.M. and A. Co. offered the farm of Mr JSereditli Wilson, four miles from Gerakline, a farm of 2o!) acres iu two parts (near each other.) of 187 and 72 acres, homestead on the smaller part. The property is_ subject to a mortgage of £2300 at 5 per cent, due in 1912. Terms of payment were 25 per ceut. down, balance at G per cent. If a satisfactory bid for the whole was not received, the two portions were to be offered separately, but this alternative had not to be resorted to. Bidding started at £l3 10s, and by 10s and 5s bids the price of £l4 10s was reached, and a consultation between vendor and bidder resulted in the latter agreeing to give and the former to accept £l4 15s for the whole. The purchaser is Mr Alex. Souncss. BY MORTON AND J'KAIiSON. Messrs Morton and Pearson offered at their rooms the goodwill of the lease in perpetuity of Mr . Chynowith's 27 acre holding in Pareora No. 1 settlement. The auctioneer, Mr Morton, stated that tho Government valuation of the tenant's interest was £343, and this is subject to a mortgage, to the Advances to Settlers Department, of £175, less about £9 paid off, rent and rates were paid to the end of the year. At Messrs Guinness and LeCrcn's salerooms Mr Shallcross submitted Diplow the handsome and completely fitted residence of Mr \Y. Ensom, who is leaving Timaru, but no offer was made for it. The terms of payment proposed were 10 per cent.. 15 per rent, next month, and the balance conk' remain on mortgage for five years at 5 per cent. Guinness and LcCren, Ltd., (in conjunction with the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd.) offered, nnder instructions from the executors of the Into Jn T >ies Skinner, two farms at Hilton. Mr Shallcrass wielded the hammer. The first farm offered was one of -187 acres near Mr Robert Skinner's, with 12-roomed

dwelling-house (partly unfinished), concrete granary aud otlior buildings, l(i(J acres ia wheat; 90 acres in oats, and 50 acres ploughed i'or turnips.— Bidding for this started at £ll and l>y ]os advances, rose to £l3 at which price the farm was passed in. The other farm of 102 acres was then submitted and it also was passed in, at £'l3 per acre. The auctioneers expected to effect a sale privately as only a few shillings more per acre was wanted.

BY THE C.F.C.A. In the estate of the late Andrew Marton, of Otaio, The Grange farm, comprising 1005 acres was offered. Of the property there is at present, 300 acres in wheat, 150 acres in oats, 30 acres ploughed, ready for turnips, 160 acres new grass, 140 acres in two-years grass, balance in three year-old grass. There, are all necessary buildings and yards on the farm. Bidding started at £l4 nor acre, and gradually rose to £2O, at which price it was 6old to Mr Andrew Martin, of Seadown. For Mr S. Wright's fine 10-rooraed house with 45- acres of land nicely laid out, at Temuka, no offer was forthcoming. . On account- of Mrs A. Kilpatnck, a section of 1 rood 13 perches at the comer of Avenue road and Thomas street, was offered. The highest hid was one of £2OO, and at this figure it was passed in. . A section and grocery store at \\;rymntaitai. in the estate of the late -I J G. Blaekler, started at £2OO and rose by £lO bids to £240, when it was Pa On of Mr F. Allen, his house in North street,, with of an acre of land, was submitted. This started at £SOO and was passed in at £550. the auctioneer stating that a little more money was required.
