One prisoner, George Allan, received severe injuries to his head and hack, and was taken to the hospital in a semi-conscious condition. SUICIDE AT WAIMATE. A man named Robert Hyland Smith committed suicide at Waimatp, on Saturday night, by cutting with a razor, the head beirtgine'ariy severed. An inquest was held yesterday afternoon before Mr .T. Sinclair, J.P., acting-coroner, and a jury of six. After hearing the evidence of Mrs Owen, Dr. Hayes, and Constable McClincby, the jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane.
