PEERS AND THE BUDGET
LORD ROBERT CECIL'S VIEWS

The "Daily Telegraph" states that the 'Unionist peers- overwhelmingly favour Lord Lansdowne's amendriient, which is expected to refer the Budget to the judgment of the electorates, but forty signed a memorial announcing their intention to abstain from voting. Lord Robert Cecil, speaking at Blackburn, favoured retaliation, also preference to the colonies, but strongly opposed food taxes. Of the Lord Mayors and Mayors of England and Wales, 182 are Conservatives, 105 Liberals, 18 Liberal Unionists, and five 'member of the Labour party. OPPOSED TO SOCIALISM. Received 11 p.m., Nov. 11th. LONDON, Nov. 11. Sir R. W. Porks did not vote on the Budget and intimates that he does not seek re-election. Ho denounces the disastrous experiments of Socialism foreshadowed in Mr' Lloyd George's and Mr Churchill's speeches. The Council of the Liberal Association of Louth have, urged Sir E. W. Perks to reconsider his decision and condemned the "Daily News" for its attacks on him.
