At the wool sales greasy merinos were 5 to 10 per cent., greasy crossbred 5 jper cent., and scoureds 5 per cent, lower. Tho heavy catalogue and limited competition by the Americans were the chief reasons of the decline. . THE LONDON MARKETS. Received 5.5 p.m., October 24th. LONDON, Oct. 23. The wheat market is easier; Janu-ary-February shipment is quoted at 37s 9d. Holders are firm at the reduction. The Corinthic's shipment of choic-est-New Zealand butter sold at 118s to 120s. Linseed oil, 32}. The hemp market is quiet and unchanged. Copra is in good demand; South Sea in bulk 20.5-8. At Liverpool cotton October-Novem-ber shipment is quoted at 7d. Silver, Is lljd per oz. There is small business in barley; on passage parcels (Australian and Cape) Bold at 81s.

Oats are easier owing to heavy arrivals; Garton, 20s to 225; sparrowbills, 19s 6d to 21s; La Plata, unchanged.

The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association are in receipt of the following cable message from their London office, under date October 23rd (for comparison last week's prices are given in parentheses):—Lamb, prime Canterbury, delivered Smithfiold, light 4|d (4£d), medium 42d (4;d), heaw 4Jd (4Jd). The market is very quiet'. The market for mutton is also verv quiet.
