Green, an old-time cricketer and an ex-president of the Marylebonc Club, in a letter to the newspapers strongly protests against counties approaching colonial cricketers, and suggests that counties should refuse to play any county inducing colonial cricketers to qualify for them. TEMUKA CLUB. 'Die annual meeting of the Teinuka Club was held on Tuesday night, there being only a small attendance.. Dr. Crawshaw occupied the chair. The following . new members , were elected: —Dr. Rugg, Messrs P. Acheson, J. Lee, A. Rattray, R. Gillespie, T. Creevey and Elkis. Dr. Hayes and Mr E. Brown were elected life mem. hers. The report referred to the poor progress made in cricket last season; out of 16 matches, the Club won 3, lost 11, audi drew 2. Players were to blame owing to not practising, the fielding and bowling being not up to the average. It was to be hoped that more interest would be taken in . the future. Tiie balance-sheet showed that the receipts amounted to £2B 13s 9d, and the expenditure to £2l 2s, leaving a credit balance of £7 lis 9d. Tiie report was unanimously ado_pted. The following were elected officers: President, Mr T. Buxton; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E.. James and E. Brown; delegate to the Sports Association, Mr J. McKinnon ; treasurer, Mr Buxton: secretary, Mr Harbage: captain. Dr. Crawshaw: vice-captain, Mr Bradmorc; committee, Messrs Rutherford, Day, 'R-eeves, Acheson, and Dr. Rugji; delegate to the Cricket Association, Dr. Crawshaw. A general discussion followed, and it was decided to give all possiSl© encouragement to the school boys to join the Club at a reduced subscription. The committee were empowered to draw up a schedule of duties </0 be carried out by the caretaker, and that the same be presented to the Sports Association by the delegate. It was decided not to grant the use of the trround for the hockey match oil the 16th September, as the ground would be cut up and spoil cricket. It was r.srreed to hold a social in aid of the Club at an early date, and that the opening of the season he on Thursday. 21st October. Mr G. N. Feilden urged, upon the committee the advisability ol arranging fixtures with as many foreign club'; as possible for all wliole holidays in the co'iiing season. The chairman offered a tropliy for ■the member who at the end of three mouths was considered the be«t. fielder, and the offer.was accepted with thanks. A vote of thanks to the ladies for their great help during the season, and another to the outgoing officials concluded the meeting.
