TIMARU LORAL SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the Timarn Floral and Horticultural Society was held in the 'Borough Council Chambers on Saturday night. There were present Messrs A. Besuiek (in the chair), T. TX Young, R. Grant, G. Sealey, H. S Russell, G. E. Knowles, G. Joyce and -the secretary (Mr J. K. McDonald). A letter was received from Mr E. S. Tothill offering to" donate seeds to the "value of £lO for distribution for exi*>rimental purposes among the schools «.f South Canterbury. It was agreed to accent with thanks Mr Tothill's generous offer, and the matter was referred to a committee consisting of the rh.tirmau. secretary and Mr R. Grant, with instructions to draft a circular to lie sent to all the schools in the district, asking head teachers to inform the committee what seeds they would require. James Carter and Co. wrote offering to send to members of committees samples of flowers and vegetable seeds, also for experimental purposes, and it was honed that the committee would trv the experiments and report on the value of the seeds. It was decided til"* - the offer be n'vented with thanks, distribution to he held over till the seeds arrive. Br Home Bett. resigned his seat on the committee for lack of time to attend p**d Mr J.
