PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING. The annua] meeting of the, Temuku Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening, when Rev. Chas. MacDonald presided over a small attendance. (The report presented by tho Moderjitor and Session Clerk (Mr D. Shaw) drew attention to the spiritual welfare of the congregation, and that the year had been uneventful. The usual Sunday and week day services were held and except in cases of sickness were well attended. Holy Communion had been dispensed quarterly, about half the members being present on an average, n much larger proportion 'should avail themselves of this means of grace. There had lieen 17 baptisims and eight marriages; 22 members have been admitted, 13 by certificate and nine by examinations; two have been removed by death and six have left the district. The- roll was recently purged and now , stands at ITS members. Regret was expressed at the recent resignation of the choirmaster and organist (Mr and Miss Richardson) who have for many years presided with great efficiency over the musical portion of the services* Thanks were due to the choir, the superintendents and toaehers of the Sabbath schools, and to the leaders of the young people's Bible class. Gratification was expressed at the upward tendency of the'mission collections ami the report concluded with an appeal for the hearty cooperation of all members and adherents.

The secretary read the management report and balance-sheet. The receipts amounted to £431 Gs 7d and the expenditure- to £412 12s ud, lcavjng a credit balance of £lB J.4s 2d, which it was proposed to put aside as a reserve. The appointment or a choir conductor and organist was left iu the hands of the managers to make the best arrangements. Miss Schmcdcs is at present acting as organist. Tlie chairman urged a bettor attendance at prayer meetings and pointed out the necessity of the congregation taking up the work of visiting new comers. He visited tho parishioners as often as he could, but the charge was largo and scattered, and it was.impossible for him to visit it oi'tener.
