f WEST'S PICTURES. Another good house, if anything ;i little bettor than 011 the opening night, greeted the new programme of pictures put 011 by Air \\ est's company last evening, and some very line lilnis. were shown. Among the scenic pictures the journey from Yokohama to Kyoto deserves special mention, though it was run close by the views of Burmali and the Burmese. The warmlooking landscapes and bright sunshine 110 doubt made a good many of the spectators wisli that a little of it could be transported to Timaru at the present c-hillv season. ''Catching Crocodiles," a picture apparently taken somewhere in the Nile delta," was an intensely interesting theme, and the portion that depicts a crocodile seizing and carrying off a goat .caused quite a sonsaton, whilst the subsequent hunting and shooting of several by a white sportsman gave one a good idea of the conditions under which the quarry is obtained in those wild parts. Some' fine views of Scotland and " Auld Peekie'' taken from the summit of Edinburgh Castle 110 doubt recalled to many the scenes of their youth and gladdened the heart of Scotchmen present, whilst the gorgeous royal procession taken at the recent opening of Parliament by His Majesty was shown with excellent effect. "Some good dramatic and trick films, and a host of good comics, the best of which was ■'The Aviator's Surprise." not forgetting to mention a fine educational film showing the processes in the papermaking industry, from the felling of the trees to the printing of the newspaper, concluded a first-elass programme. To-night (the last niirht) another complete change will be given.
