A STRONG PROTEST. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 13. The Temperance Committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand passed a. resolution to-niglit strongly protesting against wholesale licenses being granted in the King Country—- " We characterise the action," the resolution says, "as a breach of treaty with the native race, the more to l><_condemned since, the Stipendiary Magistrate used his deliberative vote to make the tie and his casting vote to carry the decision: As a Christian Church we protest against tho demoralisation of the native race through the strong drink thus introduced, and call upon the Government to take such action as will speedily bring an end te these wholesale licenses."
