AN IRISH AIR SHIP.

I On Thursday- last a cable message stated that Dr Boyd was the inventor of an air ship in which he had made several journeys by night' across the lrisn S t .i ui W ales. 'I Here iiad been a good deal of Excitement caused by the appearance of a " mysterious '' airship over different parts of Wales and £nghin.d, as they were supposed to lie (..irman. An endeavour was made to explain them as toys, sent u»> for advertising purposes. In a .North of England paper of May 21st we find the following:— A Pontypool correspondent wires that the mysterious airship which has been floating over South Wales during the last week was seen at Pontypool on Wednesday evening by a large number of people, including .practically all tha men employed on the night turn at the Pontypool Town Forge, and also Mr Fisher, a Pontypool architect. The airship is described as being of cigar shape, with a powerful light attached, and from the manner in which the light quivered those who saw it believe it to have been propelled by a mechanical contrivance. The ship manoeuvred over Pontyptml, and then struck off at right angles in the direction of Herefordshire. A Xorwif-h correspondent yesterday received information from several persons, totally unconnected with each other, who declare that they saw an nirship' - in Norwi'-h and neighbourhood on Wednesday night. Definite statements :>re to hand frem Wrexham, f-jprowston Catton, and Tasburgh, that strong lights were noticed between halfpast el.-veil and twelve o'clock, but none of the observers seem to have seen the body of the airship. The police have no reports on the matter. A Southend correspondent telegraphs —On Wednesday evening, at dusk, an nirsliH ws observed, at a considerable height, between Southend and Shoeburymss. It manoeuvred about for some time until darkness set in, and then disappeared.
