A London cable message announces the death of Sir J. A'. Jacoby, member for Mid Derbyshire in the House of Commons.

He takes passage from Bluff on Monday week for Hobart, en route to England, which he expects to reach at the end of August. He returns to New Zealand in Marcli or April next. Sir W. J. Steward, accompanied by Lady Steward and their daughter, Mrs Curtis, of Ashburton, who have been on a trip to South Africa, arrived at Wellington in the Warrimoo on Wednesday morning. Sir William feels a little annoyed that he missed the short session, as'he had never before missed a day when Parliament was sitting.

The Rev. A. T. Chodowski, who has held the position of minister of the Jewish congregation at Dunedin eleven cears, tendered his resignation on. l'hursdav, to take effect from September 7th."
