AT DEEP LEVELS. Per Press Association. THAMES, June 24. An important conference took place to-day regarding deep level development, between Air Frank Iteid, Government mining engineer, the local inspector of mines, and the representatives and mine managers of the companies interested. The companies were the May Queen, Saxon, Victoria, and Waiotahi. It .is stated that they had agreed on a scheme of development to the cross-cut in a direct line from the Queen Beauty shaft to the Caledonian shaft, Kuranui. The Caledonian Home Company would advise in a few days as to a' decision. The cost will be about £IB,OOO, the five companies paying £2OOO each, and the Government providing £BOOO. The scheme is of great importance to the district, for it "is believed that at 1000 feet, to which the main shaft is now sunk, another rich goldhcld wil be opened up.
