OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD.

DUNEDIN, June 24. , At to-day's meeting the Harbour Board adopted the report of the committee of the whole, which recommended that the basis of. representation to the Board should be tho municipal roll in city and suburban districts and in the country districts the country '.roll.' The constitution of the Board should be amended so as to consist of two members appointed by the Government, four for the City of Dunediu and St. Kilda Borough, two for Port Chalmers, one for tho Boroughs of West Harbour and North-East Valley, Jone for the Hill Suburban Boroughs, one for Taieri and Peninsula, Waikouaifci and part of Waihemo one for Bruce, Clntha, Tuapeka and Maiuototo, one for payers of dues on ships and one for payers of dues on cargototal 14 members. Mr Belcher moved an amendment that all the positions should be elective and that the election be based on the parliamentary roll one person to have one vote. Mr Belcher pointed S that payers of dues on amports numbered 599, payers of dues on exports 311, and there were 23 who.paid Son ships. He submitted that tins vras undue representation The amend, ment was seconded by Mr Be Maus These were the only members who voted for it, the report being adopted.
