CONFESSION BY LETTER. Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright BRISBANE, June 24. The prison authorities at Brisbane have forwarded a letter written by the murderer, Arthur Ross, to Mrs Muir, mother of Mr Muir, the Gayndah bank victim. Ross expresses deep sorrow for his crime, condoles with Mrs Muir, and eulogises Mr Muir's bravery in attacking him when entered the bank. The murder occurred on October 18th last. Muir, a Junior clerk in temporary charge of the Gayndah branch of the Commercial Bank, was found shot dead, and it was apparent that unsuccessful efforts had been made to open the bank safe. Ross was ar.rested on suspicion, and put on trial. The first jury disagreed, but on being tried a second time he was found guilty. He left a. written confession that he shot Muir.
