THE SOUTHLAND MEETING. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May 20. The Southland Coursing Club's meeting was opened tu-dav 111 the best of weather. The sport- was good generally, and the number of kills was not uißlulr large, though the fact that a number of the hares suffered from sorefeet made the kills heavier than they should otherwise have been, The first and second rounds of the Trial Stakes were got off, and the dogs left in are:—-J. Jones' (Dunedin) On Guard, G. Glennie's (Invercargill) Yellowstone, W. Maplestoff's (Invercargill; Czarina, G. Deegan's (Invercargill) Dipton, Yeina and Fearn's (Invercargill) First Round, Baird and Dagg's (Queenstown) Vice - President, A. Fearns' (Lawrence) Sorcery, A. Fearns' (Lawrence) Eclipse, Pope's (Invercargill) Royal Signal, F. Riddell's (Oamaru) Tui, F. Malcolm's (Heddon Bush) Ireland's Glory. Avenue, and Maori Queen, Patterson and Robertson's (Oamaru) Pay Day. A. Brown's (Dunedm) Roosevelt, Price's (Invercargill) Blonde and Arrahnapogue, Marks and McDonald's (Dunedin) Battle Call.
