UNAUTHORISED.

To the Editor of the " Timaru Herald." Sir,—Allow me to contradict the report that I am a candidate for a seat oa the Borough Council. I knew nothing whatever about this matter till I received a copy of the " Hcraid " in the train on my way home from Southland. I have no desire to stand as a Councillor, and as a matter of fact I have never as yet been asked to do so. I think it would be just as well for your staff to make sure of their statements before putting them in print.—l am etc., WALTER A. PEARSON. 1 '(74/09. [Our reporter did make sure of his statement, which referred to what other people had done, or had agreed to do. We regret that .Air Pearson lias been caused any annoyance by the publication of infnrniatinn supplied as a matter concerning public interests. — Ed.T.H.]
