FIRES.

Mr G. Hedges, basket and perambulator maker, Timaru, has sustained a serious loss by the burning of a large quantity'of dressed willow rods stored in a, building r.ear Temuka, the building also being destroyed. A quantity of rods stored in adjoiuing shed were saved, but the fire when discovered had too great a hold of tho main building to allow anyone to enter. Mr Hedges' loss is the greater, as it is understood there was no insurance on the property.
