In three years they had saved nearly £3,000,000 in armaments. ' He has secured officially a heavy Irish .vote. , , , DEFENCE QUESTIONS. LONDON, Feb. 28. Mr Haldanc, sneaking at Brighton, detailed the general stair's system. The defence of Britain, he said, was as iar ahead of recent iilans as a motor is ahead ot the horse carriage. If the colonies adhered to homogenous methods, rapid concerted action would be a deterrent to foreign aggression. - The Army estimates show a decrease of £24,000, and a' reduction of 1800 men on the ,establishment.
