HEALTH ITEMS.

Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. , Dr Mason, Chief Health Officer, arrived from Wellington this. morning and during the day attended the, bakers' conference where he discussed with the delegates the question of regulations in connection with bakers. In the course of a brief interview with a press representative Dr Mason stated that his attention had been directed to a statement in a Southland newspaper to the effect that the Health Department had withdrawn its objection to the storage of oysters under the Bluff wharf. He (Dr Mason) had communicated with Dr Ogston (District Health Officer) on the subject and he replied that the site selected for the purpose was a suitable one. Beyond that all that he (Dr Mason) knew of the matter was that the site selected was a new one, but he did not know whether or not it was under the wharf.
