Guinness and LeCren, Ltd.,. have received ' the following advices re the London wpol sales, which opened on Tuesday:—"As compared with closing rates of December series, greasy merino par, fine crossbreds par, medium crossbred 5 per cent, higher, coarse crossbred 7} per cent, higher." * : The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.,. have received the following cable advice from their London house in regard to the opening of tlie" January series of wool sales on the 19thAs compared with last - sale's - closing rates, prices are about par to 5 per cent, higher for fine crossbred and greasy merino, about 5 per cent, higher for medium <rreasy crossbred, about 5 per cent, to Ti- per cent-, higher for coarse greasy crossbred, and about the same for merino sconred and crossbred - slipe. Very large attendance, strong competition, and bidding general. Sheepskins.— There is.every appearance of the market remaining firm." ' The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association. Ltd.," have received the'following cable from their London office, -under date London. 19th Jan., 1909: —" The woo] sales opened to-day, and the prices, as compared with the closing rates of last series, are: — Merino . and fine crossbred at par, medium crossbred 5 per cent, higher, coarse crossbred 7} per cent, higher."

Prices, 'as compared with the closing rates of series, show an advance of par to 5 per cent, in the case of merinos generally and line erossbreds. 5 per cent, advance in medium erossbreds, and 7J per' cent, advance in coarse erossbreds."
