The president said the thought the society could congratulate itself upon the success.of the meeting which was one of the best yet held under >the aus- * pices of this society, both from a sports' point of view, and financially. The profit (£369 2s) was a long way' ahead of that of any former year. No better sports gathering of the kind was held iu any part of the' Dominion, and he'had heard different people say that they were the best sports they had ever attended. Tliey left room for litb.e fr no improvement. For himself I>o had hail a light task-, and he dosira-.l to heartily thank his co-directors for the way they had worked to aiake fhe meeting such a success, also the juuges _for. their work. Engaging the .Kilties Hand had no doubt helped a eood dial towards the success of the second day, when the profits were increased considerably. This had been money well spent, and they had every reason to be well pleased with the result of the whole meeting. Mr Hole complimented the president atfd secretary upon the wpy they had managed the gathering. it was exceedingly fortunate that they Jiad h< en favoured with such good weather. Altogether the society must <e ** ; jv pleased with the result'of the Meeting. The Kilties- Band had undoubtelly been a great attraction, and the pnb•Ajcr.,had übeen . very., pleased "villi the gathering. The president paid a warm-tiil ute to the secretary for the excellent way in which he had discharged his di/ties as chief executive officer of the gather-

In acknowledging the compliment paid him, Mr Fraser said that the Society gave the best all-round programme of the kind that was nut on in the Dominion. He had had one or two letters from ' competitors congratulating the Society upon its splendid programme', and upon the success of' the gathering. This showed that the competitors were satisfied with tne programme, was as [rood a one as. .could have been provided. Oil the motion of Mr j'riest, seconded by Mr C. Hall, a hearty vote of "thanks was r»assed to the judges and officials.

A niotion was passed adopting the balance sheet 'as submitted.

The. president said that after paying interest on debentures, salaries, insurance, and other expenses, there, snould be a balance at tjic end of the year of £237, according to a calculation made by the secretary. The question was: How were tney going to dispose of the profit : J He hoped that tliey would decide to pay £2OO off tile debentures on the grand stand. The latter required painting, and that would take a- considerable sum. Tliere were also some other things which required doing. 1 Messrs J'ringlc, Hole, and l'riest spoke in support of paying £2UU oil tlie grand stand debt, and it was nnauimouslv decided to follow this

course. The secretary said that £llloO was now owing on the grand Stand, and lie suggested that they should make an effort to pay off ,L'2.jO and leave JLI(JUL) owing. J Hey could get the other ,i_oo if; ten members would become life members at £o each. The president and -Mr Hole each agreed to contribute £o in tins >tay, and it was agreed that if eigljit others could not be got to do like>i ise only £l'UO should be iiaid off the debentures. The ground committee was authorised to have some minor works attended to at the grounds. : Complimentary reference was made to the way in which the caretaker charged Ins duties, and it was decided Lo vote 'him a- bonus ol £2 10s. ' The secretary reported that a donation of £5 6s nail been received-l rum the Licensed \ ictuallers. — Keeeived with thanks. > A letter 'was received from Mr 8. 11. Burns relative to a prize for dancing iu the class for eliilureii over 10 anil under 12 years. His boy had been placed third in this class, and the girl who bad been, placed second had also competed in the class for under I'l. She could not be over 10. as well as under JU, and lie consiuereu tnao his boy should have beeil placed second in the class for over 10. It was considered that an unintentional error had been made ny in.liiother of the girl who competed in both classes, and it was decided to .give a medal to Mr Burns' boy. the meeting then closed. j
