THE TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. Per Press Association. > NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 18. The Taranaki tennis tournament was continued to-day in splendid weather during the forenoon but, in the afternoon several showers fell interfering considerably with play and making the courts slippery. Hie men's championship singles was won by Wilding iii an incompleted match against Parker interrupted by the weather.
The men's championship doubles went to H. A. Parker and H. W. Brown, who beat Fisher and Wilding, (i-8, 6-4, 9-7.
Miss Nunneley atrd Wilding beat Miss Powdrell and Fislier for the combined championship doubles. The men's handicap singles went to L. Jennings, and men's ' handicap doubles to Jennings and Caplen. . The ladies' handicap singles fell to Miss Brewster, who defeated Miss Cave (Wanganui). , Misses Simpson and Cave won the ladies' handicap doubles. Owing to rain it was found impossible to complete the combined handicap doubles.
