.! AUCKLAND, Jan 13. In the Coromandel Police Court Charles Legge, a letter-carrier and counter-hand at the local Post Office, was charged with stealing two sums amounting to £49 0s 9d, the. property of the Government. Legge, on December 22, reported to the police that the post office had been robbed of cash stolen from the safe. On December 24, two davs later, he was arrested, and confessed that he had taken the monev himself. He showed where it was planted, and the police recovered £35, and the deficit was made good, accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentcTce. Bail was allowed. George McGurk. charged with attempted murder of Ins brother-in-law George Barrett, at Devonport, on the night of December 14th last, was todav committed for trial.

At the Magistrate's Court to-day Edward Richard Black alias Wilson was committed for trial on a charge of assaulting Ivand Jorgensen and stealing monev and a watch and chain. McCorm'ick and Neal are awaiting trial for taking part in the same affair. Henry Henrickson and Mary Tanner were charged with breaking and entering a dwelling and stealing plate, clotbii.«. and other articles of a total value of £3G. Henrickson pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supremo Court for seuteuce. Tanner pleaded not guiltv and was committed for trial. Robert Edward Collins was commit-t-c.' for trial 011 a charge of mansh ugliter iii connection with the death of John Ferguson. It is alleged that on the, night of December 12th Collins struck' Ferguson a blow which had a fatal result.
