FIRES.
Per Press Associat : on. ASHBURTOX, October 19. A wooden block of shops. 26 veins old. at Tinwald, owned by Mr Jnuiiif liudseil,. and in which was carried on a but cilery, bakery, drapery, grocery and ironmongery' business,,'was totally destroyed by tire last night. The place "was locked up on .Saturday night, and uK'far ;b' ]•• known no one was there till tlie tir-t- w;-.-> discovered by a baker at work at .the J ear of the premises. The fire had a big hold when it) was discovered, and. with the exception of a few tools, everything was destroyed. The contents of the safe, including deeds. books and money, were charred, and made practically., unrecognisable. The etoek. was insured for £SOO in the Royal, a fiimihtrsuni covering the building in the samo office. Mr Gudsell k absesit in Christchurch, and his loss is estimated at considerably above the insurance.
